Bath Farmers’ Market - the June days
June has been a learning expereince. We have battled hot sun and coffee and we found that the Daily Grind offers some wicked lemonade…the best! We’ve battled the torrential downpours and we all went home…so I am sorry if you came out that day but a hail storm threatened to make seives out of tents! We (the BFM committee) are striving to make this market successful for the vendors and the consumers…you! Lorraine has been working hard to bring some unique events to the market. We have had activities for kids, programs delivered by the Master Gardeners, the Green Man talking about composting, and a solar oven guy. Did you know that you can cook outside, powered by the sun, using cardboard covered with aluminum foil? Amazing!
Our vendors are terrific! Twin Maple Farms started the “What The Heck Is That!” contest. If you are knowledgable about old pieces farm equipment, then you may be able to win some of their yummy potatoes! Unangst Farm, another local farm, has partnered with Twin Maple Farms to bring their raspberries to the market each week. Get them early because they go fast! Keepsake Dairy has tasty cheeses and yogurt. You can sample before you buy them. Graver Farms, Goulds Produce and Blue Blaze Farm offer a wide variety produce picked fresh for market. Janice of Graver Farmstead offers a free recipe for a dressing each week. This last week was a raisin dressing for broccoli salad. Don’t knock it until you try it..in the words of Rachael Ray, “yummo”! Dutch Hill Preserves is selling PA Maple Syrup and plenty of yummy preserves. And don’t forget to pick up some homemade baked goods and candy to get you through the week.
Stop by the Bath Farmers’ market tent and let us know how we are doing. Also, you can register to win a green man ornament and other goodies donated by our generous vendors. The market is open on Fridays, 3-7 pm. Stop by each week to get fresh on Friday!
